Preparing Lunch bags for homeless
2010 was a great summer for the Ark. We had 8 staff members made up of college students from all over the Southeast. We performed 1 show every night Tuesday thru Saturday. Monday nights were reserved for chapel services with our resident groups, which was a new addition to our summer program. We hosted over 34 youth groups from 9 different states, with 920 people staying with us during the summer season. Average length of stay was almost 5 nights and we already have over 15 groups booked for next summer.

Group Visiting Nursing Home
Our mission focus included Rescue Mission, Anchorage Children’s Home, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, nursing homes in the area, etc. Many groups participated in outreach to visitors on the beach, inviting them to attend our FREE concerts each night. Groups also had their own programs and session like a arts camp or a youth praise band camp as well along with bible study and retreat programs.
Our new 2×2 leadership development program is off to a great start. Members of our resident band 2×2 were asked to raise their own support for the 10 week summer experience. They gained experience in working together as a group, planning and leading the musical concerts and worship times, working with youth of various ages from many different churches, and
time management. Many of them will follow countless other former 2×2 members in writing and recording music, leading worship in their local churches, or becoming youth ministers.
We are so blessed to be a small part of their training and experience!
